Revitalizing Connections: DECTRIS' Successful Visit to China's X-ray Community in 2023

In 2023, DECTRIS deepened its connection with the Chinese X-ray community and distributors further by visiting China after the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions. During the visit, DECTRIS engaged in knowledge exchange and training with its X-ray distributors and also had the opportunity to visit prominent facilities such as the High Energy Photon Source, Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility, National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, etc. DECTRIS remains committed to supporting its valued Chinese customers in their research endeavors and will continue to work closely with its distributors to provide them with the best detecting systems.

Over the past three years, COVID-19 restrictions have posed some challenges for us. Despite these limitations, our connections with the Chinese scientific community have remained. We have continually engaged with scientists in China through various means, including hosting Chinese seminars and webinars, utilizing our WeChat Official account, participating in conferences with distributors such as the SSRF user meeting, and providing support to Chinese scientists in finding the most suitable detectors and experimental methods.

In 2023, with COVID-19 restrictions lifted in China, we eagerly seized the opportunity to visit our Chinese customers and X-ray detector distributors once again. Our DECTRIS team, including our Head of Sales (Dr. Nicolas Pilet),  Asia Pacific Sales Manager (Dr. Mifang Lu), Electron Microscopy Sales Manager (Dr. Herve Remigy), Head of Support (Sascha Grimm), Product Manager (Lisa Glatt), and embarked on a 15-hour flight to China.

Our visit was a success, and we were glad to meet our Chinese distributors: Beijing TAIKUN Industrial Equipment Co. Ltd. and UNITE TECHNOLOGY Ltd. in person once again. We provided on-site training for our distributors and exchanged knowledge with them. We also enjoyed dinner together, which helped us catch up for the time we lost due to the pandemic. We are very grateful for their work in China.

We were greatly impressed by the visit to the new HEPS site in Huairou, many thanks to HEPS scientists for making our dream come true. The discussion with HEPS scientists on the DECTRIS HPC technology, future products as well as the application and needs of individual beamlines was precious. We are excited to work with the first high-energy synchrotron facility in China to push the edge on x ray technolgy. We are keen to see our most advanced detectors to be installed on the beamlines and put into use in the near future, supporting original and innovative research in the fields of science and engineering science in China.

One moment that stood out was our visit to the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility, one of our major clients. It was truly awe-inspiring to witness our detectors being seamlessly integrated into their synchrotron beamlines and seeing how they contribute to groundbreaking research in the field. During our visit, we were warmly welcomed by the beamline scientists and had the opportunity to exchange valuable insights and knowledge on our respective research experiences. Furthermore, our support team provided technical support and conduct repairs on the detectors in the facility, ensuring that they continue to operate at their maximum potential, which highlights our commitment to providing excellent customer service. We are excited to continue supporting their research endeavors and nurturing our partnership with them in the future.
